Secondary Beams and Targets / Knie, Klaus (Darmstadt, GSI)
Secondary ion beams are beams of particles produced by bombarding a production target with a primary beam of a stable nuclide (in most cases protons) or by fragmentation of heavy primary particles. [...]

Metamaterials for impedance optimisation and sustainability / Zannini, Carlo (CERN) ; Sito, Leonardo (CERN)
Metamaterials could allow developing superconductive-like materials at ambient temperature, with consequent drastic reduction in energy consumption. They are therefore promising materials for future accelerators of small and big scale. [...]

The Karlsruhe Research Accelerator (KARA) is a synchrotron light source user and test facility, operating at an electron beam energy ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 GeV. Performing optics measurements and comparing with the machine model promises an improved understanding of the lattice and the underlying beam dynamics. [...]

Development of reliable VHEE/FLASH passive dosimetry methods and procedures at CLEAR / Rieker, Vilde (CERN ; Oslo U.) ; Farabolini, Wilfrid (CERN) ; Corsini, Roberto (CERN) ; Wroe, Laurence (CERN) ; Bateman, Joseph (CERN ; Oxford U.) ; Korysko, Pierre (Oxford U. ; CERN) ; Robertson, Cameron (CERN ; Oxford U.)
The electron beam at CERN Linear Accelerator for Research (CLEAR) has been intensively used to study the potential use of Very High Energy Electrons (VHEE) for radiotherapy, including the so-called FLASH regime. An important part of these studies revolves around the development of reliable dosimetry methods, given that generally accepted standards are partly lacking for electron beams in the 100 MeV range and even more so in the ultra-high dose rates (UHDR) conditions needed for FLASH. Experimental confirmation of the impedance reduction campaign in the CERN SPS / Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN) ; Damerau, Heiko (CERN) ; Karpov, Ivan (CERN) ; Lasheen, Alexandre (CERN) ; Papotti, Giulia (CERN)
Measurements of the very long single bunch spectrum with RF off, were started in the SPS in 2012 to identify the main impedance sources responsible for both single and multi-bunch beam instabilities observed during operation. The impedance of the vacuum flanges with a strong peak at 1.4 GHz was identified and proven from simulations to limit the beam intensities required for the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). [...]

Comparison between self-consistent and non self-consistent space charge analysis for the evolution of the coherent direct space charge modes / Métral, Elias (CERN) ; Amorim, David (CERN) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN)
The question of the mitigation of the Transverse Mode Coupling Instability (TMCI) by space charge has been discussed for more than two decades. Since few years, it has become clear that the ABS model, which has been often used in the past and which assumes an air-bag bunch in a square well, is not sufficient to properly describe the complexity of the interaction between impedance and space charge. [...]

Intrabunch motion in the presence of mode coupling / Métral, Elias (CERN)
The intrabunch motion for independent longitudinal or transverse beam oscillation modes has been explained analytically for impedance driven bunched-beam coherent instabilities already several decades ago by Laclare and they have been observed in many measurements and simulations. These oscillation patterns do not depend on the bunch intensity, they are head/tail symmetric and they exhibit a number of nodes equal to the radial mode number. [...]
